QuickBox bought out by Plex (!April Fools!)

Ladies and Gentleman, it is with great news to announce that QuickBox has been bought out by Plex.

As you all know, Plex is a multi-national company with many different assets all around the world. QuickBox aims to deliver a piece of software that can support novices to experts create their own media server. The buyout by Plex means that QuickBox will soon be an integral part of Plex’s daily operations.

A statement by Plex CEO Keith Valory is as followed;

“After months and months of tough negotiations, we saw the value in the QuickBox and wanted to ensure the offer was right. We wanted to take the mission statement of QuickBox and integrate it with our own.

Everyone here at Plex is extremely excited to be working with JMSolo and his team to provide a more coherent, and easy process for those who want to manage their media in a sophisticated piece of software.”

So what does this mean for QuickBox Pro users? Well, this means that software development will stop as of the 1st of April 2020, and we will no longer be actively support QuickBox Pro or Community editions either.

The staff at QuickBox will be migrating over to Plex and will soon have new positions within their Community teams. The QuickBox website will remain active for another year, before being transferred over to the Plex servers.

This is not a sad day for our community, but one that we will celebrate every year. QuickBox is a fantastic piece of software, and Plex saw the value in that. It is our goal to make Plex the go-to piece of software for anyone who wants to manage their media in the 21st century.
